THE BAND

It takes a great deal of effort to form a band and to keep that band together. It requires many dedicated hours, similar goals and values among the band’s members, similar musical influences, mutual respect, and band chemistry – not easy things to find. It took Flight a long time to establish itself as the band that now stands before you. A band that has a strong passion for music that has come together to share its passion with the rest of the world.

Band Bio

Flight is an energetic 4-piece rock band whose sound is marked by ardent vocal melodies, explosive guitar riffs, and intoxicating rhythms.

The band was forged in the summer of 2005 out of a genuine devotion to music and a deep-seated desire to inspire when guitarist Brian August and bass guitarist Brad August, twin brothers from Calgary, Alberta, Canada, set out to find a singer and a drummer who were as committed and passionate about music as they were.

They set their sights first on Steve Cox, a long-time friend whom they knew loved music and who could play the drums and keyboards.  The band was enthralled by Steve’s commitment, musicality, and personality, and very soon after Steve’s incorporation into the band, he was already involved in the song-writing process, laying drum rhythms for previously songs the twins had written as well as adding his own musical influences to new ones.

Still, however, the band was without a frontman.  It was a conversation between Brian and a fellow co-worker named Steve Chan during the summer of 2005 that sparked Steve’s interest in Flight and fueled Brian’s optimism that this might be the guy the band needed to complete the quartet.  The band was immediately entranced by Steve’s powerful and rich baritone voice and by his ability and willingness to use his falsetto.  The band was equally mesmerized by the charismatic and impassioned singer’s raw energy and positive attitude.

Drawing influences from such bands as U2, Oasis, and Coldplay, Flight spent the next few months writing songs and performing to live audiences.  The result: original and uncompromising songs and a sound that underscores the band’s earnest fidelity to great music.
